Abstract

This study explores how the flow state influences time perception and further examines whether meditation can alter temporal experience to affect physiological mechanisms. Based on an interdisciplinary approach integrating psychology, neuroscience, and quantum mechanics, we propose a hypothesis: the essence of the flow state is not the enhancement of sensory perception but rather the alteration of time perception, leading to a subjective acceleration or deceleration of time. Furthermore, meditation serves as a tool to enter the flow state, potentially influencing subjective time progression and physiological aging. By designing a series of psychophysical experiments and neuroscientific measurements, we aim to test this hypothesis and explore its potential applications in longevity and enhanced human consciousness regulation.
