Abstract

Endogenous endophthalmitis (EE) is an intraocular infection, frequently bacterial, acquired via hematogenous dissemination. We present the case of a patient with fever and unilateral vision loss who was diagnosed with invasive pneumococcal disease. Despite systemic and intravitreal antibiotic treatment, the patient experienced clinical deterioration which ultimately required ocular evisceration. We emphasize the need for early and aggressive intervention.
