Abstract

IoT offers easier maintenance and management of charging devices and fueling processes via a user-friendly platform. The platform provides collaboration opportunities to station owners, local service providers, global equipment vendors as well as EV drivers. The BMS is typically an embedded system and a specially designed electronic regulator that monitors and controls various battery parameters (e.g. temperature, voltage, and current) to keep the battery cells within a safe working range. The system hardware is developed and tested using Atmega328 low power RISC based high-performance microcontroller. The batteries’ SoC level and State of Health (SoH) are calculated using embedded sensors and communication platforms through the IoT platform and Global System Monitoring (GSM) technology. The GSM and IoT technology ensure that the different batteries are monitored periodically, and any irregularities are immediately addressed through the distributed energy management control technique.
