This study investigates the roles and challenges faced by fathers raising children with Global Developmental Delay (GDD). It aims to understand their emotional, psychological, and practical struggles, their coping mechanisms, and their navigation of healthcare, educational, and social systems. By highlighting the unique perspectives of fathers, the study seeks to inform interventions that improve outcomes for families in similar situations. The research employs a qualitative interpretative phenomenological design, utilizing in-depth interviews and thematic analysis to explore the nuanced experiences of fathers raising children with GDD. Participants, selected via purposive sampling, include fathers from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds with children aged 2–5 years. Data collection involved validated semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis to uncover patterns and insights. Two primary themes emerged: parenting challenges and emotional support. Fathers highlighted the significant responsibility of caregiving, balancing professional duties with active parenting, and managing financial constraints, particularly regarding therapies. Emotional struggles were prevalent, yet many expressed resilience through acceptance, patience, and reliance on social support systems. Coping mechanisms ranged from passive strategies, such as allowing tantrums to subside, to proactive approaches like seeking professional guidance. Participants emphasized the importance of spousal encouragement and community resources in navigating challenges. The study underscores the complex and multifaceted experiences of fathers raising children with GDD. Their insights reveal the importance of tailored support systems that address emotional, financial, and social challenges. These findings provide a foundation for developing targeted interventions to empower fathers and enhance their caregiving roles.
