The present study reviews existing literature on the impact of various parenting styles on children's mental health in the digital age, examining how authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and uninvolved approaches affect adolescents aged 11 to 19 amidst growing technological advancements; it highlights the importance of parental digital literacy and involvement in children's online activities to mitigate risks and enhance digital benefits, noting that authoritative parenting—with its balanced responsiveness and demandingness—is linked to positive mental health outcomes, whereas authoritarian and permissive styles may increase depressive symptoms; the paper emphasizes the need for parents to adapt their strategies to support mental health in a rapidly evolving digital landscape and suggests that fostering authoritative parenting and improving digital literacy can contribute to better outcomes, concluding that understanding these influences is crucial for developing effective interventions.
