Abstract

Mental health of athletes is an important but underrepresented aspect of sports science. Numerous elite athletes, especially Olympic elites, are exposed to unique stressors that may predispose them to clinical depression and anxiety. This study will seek to compare these disorders rigorously between Olympic elite athletes and amateur athletes using robust quantitative methods in addition to a comprehensive theoretical framework.
