Abstract

We show that the cosmological model of the Universe can be described as an FRW Universe interspersed with spherical voids described by the interior Schwarzschild metric. The voids cannot be described using the Minkowski metric because the Universe has a past horizon (the Big Bang) and given that the Minkowski metric has no such horizon, we conclude that the geometry of the voids must be described by the interior Schwarzschild metric. The model is compared to observational cosmological data and is shown to fit observation as an explanation of the accelerated expansion of our Universe without the need for a Cosmological constant.
