Abstract

This study examines the association between nutritional habits and academic functioning among secondary school students. Using a cross-sectional survey design, data were collected from 45 students in grades 7–12 at a secondary school in Kazakhstan. The survey assessed meal frequency, breakfast consumption, dietary quality, and self-reported concentration and energy levels during school hours. Descriptive statistics and correlational analyses were used to explore relationships between dietary patterns and academic-related outcomes. The results indicate that regular meal consumption, balanced diets, and consistent breakfast intake are associated with higher perceived concentration and energy levels. Although limited by self-reported data and a small sample size, the study highlights the potential role of nutrition in supporting students’ academic functioning and provides a basis for future research in educational contexts.
