Abstract

Translation plays a key role in successful translation projects, supporting students using artificial intelligence. Trust is a catalyst in building reliance on AI among students doing their translation projects, signifying the importance of AI in translation work. This study attempts to explore the opportunities, challenges, and implications of integrating AI into translation work, focusing on how translation students rely on and trust artificial intelligence (AI) tools. By analyzing data from 150 translation students using SPSS, the study examines their demographic profiles, usage habits, dependency, trust levels, and perceptions of AI tools. The findings reveal that 90% of students utilize AI tools, with 66.7% expressing a reliance on them. While 70% of respondents believe that AI-generated translations are accurate, 33.3% are skeptical about AI’s ability to manage complex tasks. Students acknowledge that AI significantly aids in maintaining consistency and efficiency, yet they emphasize the importance of human oversight, particularly for intricate and culturally nuanced translations. The study highlights the necessity of balancing technological advancements with human expertise, concluding that AI serves as a complement to human translators rather than a replacement.
