Objective: To adapt the Aging Sexual Knowledge and Attitudes Scale (ASKAS) into Spanish and examine its psychometric properties, as well as to describe levels of knowledge and attitudes toward sexuality in later life among nursing assistant (CAE) students and nursing home staff.Method: A total of 467 participants took part (126 CAE students and 341 professionals). The ASKAS was adapted using forward translation and back-translation, and a pilot study with participants from the target population was conducted to optimize comprehensibility and readability. Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha and McDonald’s omega for both subscales. Item–total correlations and the impact of item deletion on alpha were examined. Evidence of validity based on relations with other variables was evaluated using Pearson correlations with prior training in older-adult sexuality, exposure to relevant referents, religiosity, and the association between knowledge and attitudes. Students and professionals were compared in knowledge and attitudes.Results: The knowledge subscale showed adequate internal consistency with similar values in students and professionals. The attitudes subscale demonstrated high internal consistency. Item–total correlations were adequate, and deleting items did not increase alpha. Students obtained fewer correct answers than professionals, whereas no between-group differences were observed in attitudes. Associations with external variables were consistent with the expected direction.Conclusions: The Spanish version of the ASKAS showed adequate psychometric properties in CAE students and nursing home staff, supporting its usefulness for assessing knowledge and attitudes toward sexuality in later life in educational and care settings.
