Abstract

Ko and Neuberg introduce a framework for understanding how ecological affordances are perceived. I suggest that a broad conception of “perception” conflates distinct phenomena in a way that can limit our understanding of ecological affordances. Distinguishing between these phenomena can facilitate our understanding of how the mind evolved to represent and manage ecological challenges.
