Stockart et al. provide some methodological recommendations to guide future research on unconscious perceptual and cognitive processes. Here, I explain why several of these recommendations are unlikely to reduce existing ambiguities and provide insufficient guidance for their operationalization, and I argue that future research may benefit more from adopting an alternative research strategy.
