Abstract

“Improve your memory now!” Perhaps you have seen this advertisement before, or you have always wanted to boost your memory, and you have thought of this magic pill that can help you memorize faster. To meet this need, pharmaceutical companies started manufacturing these needed magic pills, calling these products cognitive enhancers. Students are the most common users of cognitive enhancers. Students want to improve their grades, pay more attention, perform better, or try something different. These enhancers may have a positive cognitive effect, but there are other factors we should consider like evidence and safety. This narrative review aims to critically explore the most commonly used cognitive enhancers, showing the scientific evidence supporting their purported benefits and potential safety concerns surrounding their use.
