Abstract

This paper examines the Quranic narrative in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:259), where Prophet Uzair (A.S.) is described as sleeping for 100 years while his donkey became a skeleton and was later restored. We analyze this event through the lens of modern physics, particularly time dilation, space-time curvature, and space-time distortion, concepts that existed in the Quran long before Einstein’s Theory of Relativity.A possible explanation involves localized space-time curvature, which could have caused time to pass differently for Uzair (A.S.) and his donkey. This paper also references the Quranic verse that states, one day for Allah is equal to 1,000 years (Quran 22:47), using it as a hypothetical time dilation factor. By applying this reference, 100 years in external time could equate to approximately 2 hours 24 minutes of Uzair’s personal experience. We further explore how time reversal may have occurred for the donkey, potentially through wormhole effects or space-time anomalies. This research combines Quranic insights with scientific derivations and provides a theoretical basis for the unique time effects described in the Quran.
