In their recent paper, Baker et al. reports on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children as related to maternal use of acetaminophen (paracetamol, APAP) in pregnancy1. In their study among 8-10-year-old children, a parent-reported diagnosis of ADHD and parent-reported use of ADHD specific drugs were more frequent among children exposed to APAP during second trimester of pregnancy compared to non-exposed. Reported inferential estimates come with poor precision and inconsistency between male and female children as the main overall inferential estimate was driven by outcomes among females. No association between results on parental completed questionnaire-based screening tests and exposure to APAP in utero was found.
