A case of combination therapy stopped the progression of Parkinson’s disease

Background Parkinson'disease is a neurodegenerative illness with increasing prevalence worldwide. Until now, no cure has been reported. To the best of our knowledge, we report the first case of stopping the progression in this disease. Case presentation We present the case of 61-year-old Korean man who was diagnosed as Parkinson’s disease treated with combination therapy consisting of dopaminergic medication, anti oxidative drugs with/without vitamin B and minerals injection, multiple times of autologous peripheral blood adherent mononuclear cells which are rich in mesenchymal stem cells infusion, and high voltage microcurrent transcranial/transcutaneous alternating stimulation over the 58 months. The test results of dopamine transporter scan, and Unified Parkinson' Disease Rating Scale were compared before and after the treatment for the evaluation of the treatment effect. After confirming the disease progression has stopped, only dopaminergic medication and high voltage microcurrent transcranial/transcutaneous alternating stimulation were carried out by himself on prescription for 22 months at home. Conclusion A long term combination therapy stops the progression of this disease. Once patient comes to a stopping of the disease progression, high voltage microcurrent transcranial/transcutaneous alternating stimulation and dopaminergic medication improve the symptoms of this disease without side effect. This case indicates that these therapeutic method can be safe, non invasive, cheap and daily lives by oneself for the treatment of this disease without ethical concerns.
