Purpose The main purpose of the study was to examine the effectiveness of secondary schools sport teachers’ pedagogical skills in improving students’ indoor and outdoor sport activities. Methodology : The study employed mixed method to research with concurrent triangulation mixed design. A total 422 samples were selected using simple random sampling technique and participated in the study. Questionnaire, interview, observation and document analysis were used to gather data from primary and secondary sources respectively. The researchers used descriptive and inferential statistics to analyze data. The data obtained from questionnaire was analyzed using average mean, standard deviation and independent sample t-test. The data obtained through interview, observation and document review were narrated under main themes. Results The finding shows that the implementation of sport activities was affected by inadequate time allotment, scarcity of teaching materials and shortage of play field. The findings of the study further showed that there was perception difference between teachers’ and students’ engagements in sport activities. The finding revealed that although there were prevailing factors affecting the practices of sport education, the differences caused through utilization of variety of teaching methods encouraged students develop good relations at all times. Conclusions The findings showed that sport teachers were not effectively enacting to improve students’ learning participation in indoor and outdoor sport activities. Suggestions : secondary schools sport education teachers’ should acquire necessary training to use active learning method. The ministry of education and schools should fulfill the required teaching materials for teachers and allocate appropriate time for sport activities.
