Accelerating corporate green transition is indispensable if China’s economy is to attain genuine sustainability. This article examines the impact of environmental justice reform (EJR) on the green development of enterprises. The results indicate that EJR has a significant promoting effect on enterprise green total factor productivity (GTFP). EJR has a more significant effect on improving GTFP for state-owned enterprises, enterprises in areas with weak environmental regulations, enterprises in areas with high river density, and enterprises in resource-based cities. EJR mainly promotes enterprise GTFP through green technology innovation effect, social supervision effect, and cost constraint effect. The impact of EJR on enterprise GTFP has spatial spillover effect. This article provides empirical evidence for improving China's environmental regulatory policies and promoting green transformation of enterprises.
