Abstract

Our study synthesized two-dimensional nickel-titanium layered double hydroxide nanosheets by liquid-phase exfoliation of NiTi-LDHs, which were initially synthesized through a co-precipitation process. The loading efficiency of NiTi-LDHs nanosheets for ibuprofen, was evaluated using various characterization techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The investigation focused on the drug release profiles of ibuprofen from nanosheets in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) solutions with varying pH values. The findings demonstrate that the exfoliated nanosheets enhance the total release capacity of ibuprofen, in addition to demonstrating excellent pH-dependent adaptability and prolonged release characteristics. The release kinetics, as indicated by the fitting curves, reveal that the nanosheet structure can effectively modulate the drug release process, achieving sustained drug release over time. This work underscores the promise of NiTi-LDHs nanosheets as an effective drug delivery system for controlled release applications.
