Granular Assessment: An Evaluation of ConcreteAggregate Properties via Sieve Analysis

This paper presents a sieve analysis of fine and coarse aggregates used in concrete mixtures, conducted primarily with reference to Turkish standard TS802, while aligning with ASTM procedural methods for laboratory execution. The study evaluates key aggregate properties such as gradation, distribu- tion, and compliance with construction criteria. Theoretical mod- els for particle segmentation and mass proportion calculations are connected directly to experimental procedures. Results are contextualized using national standard thresholds and literature benchmarks, with implications for material selection and concrete performance. Discrepancies in particle size distributions are discussed, offering insight into optimization strategies for durable mix design.
