Abstract

The foliicolous black mildew fungus infected the leaves of an endemic plant Syzygium mundagam. The fungus was similar to the genus Asterina but differs from it in having septation at the extreme end of the ascospores making the extreme difference in the size and shape of both cells. Hence, this fungus has been accommodated in the genus, Vishnumyces , which is described and illustrated in detail.
