Abstract

This article addresses about Environmental Sustainability in restoration of water treatment infrastructures in Africa. It is well known that water is an essential resource for human health worldwide. However, it is become increasingly important to develop the projects and build infrastructures for water systems to effectively manage this vital resource. The Water Treatment Plant (WTP) is a component of the water systems infrastructure responsible for providing a treatment processes of water. The primary goal of this research was to evaluate the environmental sustainability of restoration of the water treatment sector in Africa, based on the following pillars of sustainability: ecologic, economic and social. This research was prepared based on the sample, where was evaluated the environmental sustainability of the water treatment infrastructures and their related components. The sample was water treatment infrastructures of Mozambique and Nigeria, located on the southeast and west coast of Africa respectively. Both countries have a variety of water resources.
