The implementation of improved solutions aimed at enhancing energy efficiency and optimizing the performance of water cycle management requires a comprehensive tool to assess all relevant information. To address this, analyzing a substantial amount of operational data poses a challenge. This study aims to contribute to defining a methodology that leverages information and knowledge derived from data related to energy intensity and parameters describing sanitation system performance. In the pursuit of sustainability, new metrics and indicators must consider environmental, social, and economic dimensions, with a focus on energy and climate change mitigation strategies. This research, based on data from 29 wastewater treatment plants, shows that statistical analysis and sustainable value assessment can serve as effective tools for integrating performance data and energy intensity information within wastewater treatment plants. The adoption of sustainable value management showed to be an innovative strategy for the aggregation of monitoring data necessary for a benchmark approach in wastewater treatment plants.
