Abstract

This article presents an integrated approach to the simulation of warehouse logistics processes using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems in combination with Tecnomatix Plant Simulation (TPS) software. PLM serves as a comprehensive data backbone that enables the modeling and monitoring of product-related logistics throughout the entire lifecycle. The study highlights how this integration facilitates the development of detailed, scenario-driven warehouse simulations that accurately reflect operational complexity, hygienic requirements, and logistical constraints. A practical case study demonstrates the modeling of a warehouse system focused on hygiene control and disinfection processes — including zones for visual inspection, mechanical cleaning, sorting, quarantine, and disinfection using dry fog, UV-C light, and ozone. The article outlines the simulation methodology, key Tecnomatix components, 3D modeling strategies, and performance evaluation techniques. The findings illustrate how combining PLM and TPS enables predictive analysis, improves resource allocation, and enhances warehouse safety and efficiency — with particular relevance to pandemic-era logistics.
