Abstract

Background: Iliotibial Band Syndrome (ITBS) is a prevalent overuse injury that can substantially limit physical function and interfere with daily activities. Pain-related reductions in physical activity may adversely affect overall quality of life. Investigating this relationship is crucial for enhancing patient outcomes and informing effective rehabilitation strategies. Aims and Objective: To determine the association between physical activity levels and quality of life among patients diagnosed with Iliotibial Band Syndrome (ITBS). Materials & Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among sales workers of the age group 25-35 years. Data of 278 participants were collected from different hospital settings in Lahore. Informed Consent was taken before recording the data. Self-generated questionnaire was used for demographic data. Renne’s test was performed to examine the tightness of ITB or NPRS used to assess pain. SF36 measured the health-related quality of life while the physical activity level was measured using IPAQ. Data were evaluated using SPSS 21. Results: The research included 265 individuals. Results showed in knee osteoarthritis IPAQ and General Health are not statistically significant (p = 0.14), IPAQ and Physical Functioning are significant (p = 0.000), IPAQ while the IPAQ and role of limitation due to physical health is at p = 0. 000, and IPAQ and role of limitation due to emotional health is at p = 0. 001, IPAQ with Emotional Wellbeing is significant (p = 0.000), IPAQ with Social Functioning. Is also significant (p=0.00) IPAQ with Energy or Fatigue is not significant (p = 0.18), Conclusion: Current research concludes that there is a significant association between physical activity level and quality of life among patients with iliotibial band syndrome.
