Abstract

We isolated a novel bacteriophage from Lake Baikal. Transmission electron microscopy revealed that phage PfAn1 has a head with a diameter of 50 nm and a short tail. Its genome is 39,156 bp in length with a GC content of 57%. It is predicted to contain 53 open reading frames (ORFs). The results of evolutionary analysis suggest that phage PfAn1 should be considered a new member of the class Caudoviricetes .
