Abstract

A case of an HIV-infected patient was admitted to the respiratory department presenting with cough, yellow and white sputum, and fever. Chest imaging revealed infectious lesions in both lungs. Examination of the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid using next-generation sequencing (NGS) identified Aemonella orientalis and pulmonary pathology confirmed the presence of fungal spores, indicating a fungal infection. The patient underwent approximately 8 weeks of progressive treatment with liposomal amphotericin B, followed by oral voriconazole tablets, resulting in significant resolution of the chest infection.
