Trace elements are central for the accurate physiological functions of the body. However, these are possible only when they are maintained in a balanced state. Events like trauma, hereditary diseases, incorrect diets and polluted air or water may produce disruption, leading to their defficiency. This may trigger untold healthy implications. Hence, it is necessary to regain deficient trace elements through natural food or supplements, since the body cannot synthesize them. In this work, a thorough review of trace elements and updated knowledge on their potencial connections with common clinical disorders were provided. Consumption of trace elements as well as micronutrients were found to release intracellular substances. In addition, intake of the correct amount of these elements could provide oxidative protection while their defficiencies or excess amount may exacerbate oxidative damage in cells. Besides, imbalance of these elements is correlated with pathophysiology of clinical or degenerative diseases by disrupting the homeostatic status of the patients.
