Epidemiological Profile of Viral Hepatitis B and C of A Center of Reference in Tropical Diseases in The State of Amapá, Bra-zilian Amazonia

The objective was describing the epidemiological aspects associated with cases of viral hepatitis B and C treated in a reference center for Tropical Diseases in a State of the Northern Region of the Brazilian Amazon. This is a descriptive study through the search of documents and medical records between 2013 and 2023. The data analysis was by Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 26 submitted to frequency distribution and Pearson’s chi-square association. There were 254 cases of viral hepatitis predominantly male, 53.1%, age group 20 - 59 years old, 71.7%, schooling for high school, 44.8%, from the public health system, 77.4%, living in metropolitan area, 84,6%, with Macapá State being more prevalent, 74.4%, with beginning of treatment for the year 2019 (18.1%). It was observed 52.4% for Hepatitis C, 47.2% for B and only 0.4% for B/C. Regarding coinfection, 17.5% have some type, 41.7% with associated comorbidity. Associations between age group and etiological classification (p=0.001), HIV coinfection and virus type (p=0.068) were performed. Conclusion: it is essential to expand access to care for patients affected by viral hepatitis and the peculiarities of accessibility and difficulties of decentralization of the disease are immediately overcome.
