Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the perception of dentists and dental students regarding the use of cannabidiol as a therapeutic strategy. Material and method: A quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive, and exploratory study was conducted with a sample of 152 participants, including dentists and dental students. Data collection was performed using a 15-item questionnaire, developed in Google Forms and distributed via email and WhatsApp. Result: Most participants (84.2%) expressed favorable opinions toward the therapeutic use of cannabidiol. However, only 26.3% demonstrated knowledge of its application in dentistry. Additionally, 73% reported no resistance to initiating or recommending treatment with medicinal cannabis when informed of its scientifically proven benefits. Conclusion: Both dentists and dental students exhibited limited knowledge regarding cannabidiol as a therapeutic resource. Despite the predominantly positive perception, a substantial knowledge gap remains concerning its contraindications and the mechanisms of the endocannabinoid system.
