Abstract

Toxoplasmosis is challenging to diagnose. We present a retrospective single-center, case series of eight cases of T. gondii infections identified in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients via plasma metagenomic cell-free deoxyribonucleic acid (cfDNA) sequencing. Nested within a larger cfDNA utilization cohort, this series highlights that cfDNA testing led to earlier diagnosis or change in management in 5/8 (62.5%) patients. Finally, we evaluate the potential for plasma cfDNA sequencing to expand diagnostic capabilities across a diverse range of clinical presentations.
