Abstract

AI tools like Chat GPT are increasingly used to improve students' writing skills. While this can be pedagogically useful, it may make it more difficult to assess students' own writing skills. This manuscript introduces "AI Evaluator," an assessment that presents an ethical use of AI as a writing improvement tool. The AI Evaluator assessment asks students to use their own written drafts as a source material for an Ai tool to critique and provide improvement ideas upon. Students are finally asked to evaluate the AI tools' improvement ideas and discuss and reflect on their experience with peers.
