Abstract

The growing use of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in higher education requires practical guidelines to instructors who wish to effectively and efficiently design GenAI-enhanced tasks. We present a framework that integrates learning with and about GenAI. Drawing on authentic learning theory, we articulate 10 paired design principles, each relating to learning with GenAI and about GenAI, and we illustrate their application through two case studies.
