Abstract

Universities are pivotal in fostering societal welfare through innovation, education, and community engagement. This article explores the multifaceted roles of higher education institutions (HEIs) in addressing societal challenges and promoting sustainable development. It highlights service-learning as a mechanism for civic responsibility, community-based participatory research for addressing local issues, and the economic contributions of universities through entrepreneurship and innovation. Additionally, this paper examines how universities foster social change by addressing critical social issues and global challenges.
