Background and Aims: 4-Bromo-2,5-dimethoxyphenethylamine (2C-B) is a fairlyprevalent psychoactive substance and is used across the world including the EU,USA and Australia. It was originally synthesised for psychotherapeutic use and thereseems to be potential for 2C-B to have a positive effect on mental wellbeing andperformance. However, there is very little research in the literature regarding 2C-Band no systematic review in this topic. This systematic review aims to contributetowards filling this gap in the literature and to investigating the effects of 2C-B usageon mental wellbeing and performance in an adult population. Methods: The electronic databases Medline, PsycARTICLES and PsycInfo weresystematically searched. The results were screened then a narrative synthesis wasconducted on the resulting included studies. Results: 6 studies met the inclusion criteria. The studies comprised of onequalitative study, two observational survey and three quantitative non-randomisedstudies.Conclusions: There seems to be evidence that 2C-B can have both positive andnegative effects on performance and mental wellbeing. There is currently very littleresearch on this topic and more research would be greatly beneficial, both intopotential adverse effects and potential beneficial effects.
