Abstract

A significant transformation is providing a defining moment in the 21st century, propelled by the convergence of computational culture, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML). This coming together is sparking a revolutionary phase for arts and culture, with the potential to influence human existence and global society profoundly. The rise of the Metaverse, characterized by extended reality (XR) and related immersive virtual environments, holds considerable promise. With these advancements, the boundaries between reality and virtuality are merging like never before. A new book aims to be among the pioneering works exploring the context, intricacy, and ramifications of this multifaceted phenomenon comprehensively. It strives to engage readers intimately while presenting a comprehensive viewpoint. As digital culture evolves into computational culture, we find ourselves in a digital era transitioning from two-dimensional to three-dimensional realms. Traditional flat displays of the Internet and smartphones are evolving into immersive digital landscapes. Simultaneously, new technologies and AI are increasingly being incorporated into various aspects of daily life, including the domains of arts and education. This paper presents an overview of the book, covering these various aspects of the arts and computational culture.
