Memory and attention have been identified as the main components of cognitive models. In this work, the memory is modeled as associative and is placed in a feedback loop with an attention network. Several functional aspects of the mind, including perception, logical thought, intuition, dreams, mind wandering, desire, emotion, and empathy, are explained using this simple structure. The model also gives suggestions on sources of attention deficiency and a possible path to mitigate them.
