Seeking Meaning in the Incomprehensibility of Delusional Speech Full Manuscript: A Narrative, Semiotic, and AI-Based Analysis

A brief interview with a patient with a diagnosis of schizophrenia voicing an evocative delusional-language rife with cosmic and mythical contents is interpreted in a stepwise mode. Starting from the classical Jaspers’ psychopathology, we move on to a linguistic approach and then to one of the semiotics of narration, to finally arrive at a sociological interpretation according to Goffman. By operating in this way, the abstruse and grandiloquent metaphorical language gradually reveals clues of requests that express real needs that the therapist should be able to recognize and possibly satisfy.Statement on Anonymity and Ethical Considerations.
