Abstract

Episodic memories, despite being perceived as continuous, are organized into distinct memoryunits. This process is highly linked to working memory and attentional control. Cognitive profileswith deficits in these functions provide a valuable area to evaluate the roles of working memory andattentional control in event segmentation. While existing studies in the field partially touch upon thisaspect, they do not address how working memory and attention processes in relation to context orinferences can influence event segmentation. The present paper examines different cognitive profileswith deficiencies in working memory and attentional control, suggesting alternative explanations forexisting literature findings and potential mechanisms for cognitive profiles that have been overlooked while also proposing experimental predictions.
