Abstract

Psychological monitoring in high-performance sports teams presents a key operational limitation: the delay between the occurrence of behavioral changes and the availability of actionable information for adjusting environmental contingencies. This pilot feasibility study describes the development and longitudinal application of Minds Systems, a functional monitoring system grounded in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA; Baer et al., 1968), designed to reduce this latency and increase sensitivity to intra-individual variation.The objective was to evaluate the system's operational feasibility in a naturalistic setting, including implementability, data collection stability, instrument responsiveness, and the ability to generate clinically relevant signals within a short time frame. The study design does not allow causal inference or efficacy testing.Nine Olympic wrestling athletes and their coach were followed for approximately six months (August 2025 – February 2026). The protocol generated a high density of repeated longitudinal measures (187 BRUMS administrations over 97 days, average frequency 3.8 sessions/week), enabling intra-individual modeling. Retention was 100% (9/9 athletes). The system operated with processing latency below five minutes between data collection and signal availability. A Linear Mixed Model (LMM) indicated a significant reduction in Fatigue between T1 and T2 (β = −0.837, SE = 0.377, z = −2.22, p = 0.027, ICC = 0.153, d = 0.339). All six ACSI-28 subscales showed significant improvement (r = 0.66–0.96). Detection patterns were stable across four alternative weighting schemes, with a structural limitation identified for states characterized by isolated reductions in Vigor.The results support the system's operational feasibility and its capacity to generate continuous data sensitive to behavioral dynamics in applied contexts.
