Due to the lack of a Spanish translation of the Guilt Proneness Scale instrument, we proposed to evaluate its psychometric properties in a Spanish-speaking sample in Lima, Peru. To this end, a sample of 362 participants who responded to the GP-5 was obtained, separating them into two samples equivalent in age and sex. In the first dataset, the Training dataset, three models of the questionnaire were modeled. These were tested in the Test dataset, verifying that the item model was superior. In addition, the reliability of each model was calculated. The 4-item model was tested under Item Response Theory, showing adequate indices. Finally, the invariance of the questionnaire across age and sex groups was calculated, revealing configural, metric, and scalar invariance. It is concluded that the Guilt Proneness Scale, and its 4-item model, has adequate psychometric properties in the Spanish language.
