The study examined strength of social identities and susceptibility to misinformation congruent with ideology. We find robust evidence across various social identities, that the strength of identity plays a crucial role in susceptibility. Testing an established and novel intervention, we find some support that interventions priming participants to consider how their social identities influence their evaluation of information may be effective in reducing susceptibility to misinformation.
