Abstract

This document reports the preregistered confirmatory analysis of a 2 × 3 between-subjectsexperiment (N = 120) examining AI cueing methods across color and monochrome dis-plays in simulated maritime visual search. Monochrome imagery remains common in legacysurveillance and sensor systems, yet little is known about how AI-based cueing methods per-form under these constraints. We compared indirect cueing (textual alerts), additive cueing(bounding boxes), and subtractive cueing (contextual blur) on detection performance, signaldetection measures, and behavioral trust. An exploratory temporal analysis assessed return-to-manual costs and skill transfer across five experimental blocks (pre-support, support,post-support). This preprint provides the complete statistical results for the preregisteredstudy design.
