Abstract

We attempted to replicate Study 2 from Gino et al. (2010). The original result finds evidence for an outcome bias, in which influence of chance on outcomes drives observers’ ratings of a decision’s ethicality, especially when the victim is identified. This replication’s key preregistered analysis fails to reaffirm the original result.
