Abstract

Abstract: Art therapy is highly effective in addressing a wide range of psychosocial challenges faced by adolescents. During these developmental years, adolescents encounter numerous difficulties, and art therapy is particularly appealing and accessible to them because it uses diverse materials and mediums. Traditional art supplies and structured activities are commonly employed and have proven effective in therapeutic settings. Both long-term and short-term therapy are frequently applied to address complex issues such as PTSD, dissociation, and deep-rooted emotional struggles. Long-term therapy, in particular, fosters deeper emotional exploration and expression through creative mediums, which can sometimes be more effective than verbal communication. The availability of materials like canvas, crafts, and writing tools makes it easier for adolescents to engage with therapeutic practices, supporting their developmental needs for self-expression and exploration.
