Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a reproductive disorder characterised by ovarian cysts, hormonal imbalances, and menstrual abnormalities. Most PCOS studies are limited to individual outcome measures or domains of function as opposed to a holistic approach (e.g., considering the range of impacts/lived experiences of those with the condition). The present study sought to address this gap via in-depth interviews with eight women who had been formally diagnosed with PCOS. Reflexive thematic analysis resulted in four themes: Symptoms of PCOS, Impact of PCOS, Diagnostic and Treatment Experiences, and Misogyny. We argue that service users are receiving inadequate information about PCOS from their clinicians due to the limited evidence base and lack of knowledge. We also highlight a need for increased awareness and acceptance of reproductive disorders more generally. Further research is needed to ensure that those with PCOS are adequately informed and supported in a holistic manner.
