This paper introduces the Workplace Visibility Index (WVI), a novel framework designed to explore how perceived visibility at work impacts psychological safety and well-being. Rooted in positive psychology and critical participatory action research, the WVI breaks visibility into eight dimensions – four positive (e.g., acknowledgment, access) and four negative (e.g., surveillance, tokenism). The research proposes a mixed-method study across remote, hybrid, and in-office populations to validate the instrument and map its relationship to psychological well-being. This preprint outlines the conceptual rationale, proposed methodology, and intended instruments for measurement. It also highlights potential extensions for future research and workplace application.
