Abstract

Despite decades of inquiry, the search for the Neural Correlates of Consciousness (NCC), both in the complex brains of humans and in animals with simpler neural architectures, has had limited success. This paper investigates the hypothesis that this lack of progress may stem from flawed assumptions.
