Abstract

Human and animal intelligence have been studied for centuries byphilosophers and scientists from various disciplines, and no satisfactorytheory has been put forward that can explain how it works and what its majorcomponents are. I argue that it is due to the use of natural but misleadingassumptions. I propose to switch focus to better assumptions, namely thatintelligence relies on the comparison of comparable properties. This allows meto explain all the cognitive functions using a minimum toolbox.
