Abstract

This study explores the impact of a WhatsApp-based peer support intervention aimed at improving adolescent mental health in rural Kenya. Utilizing a community-centered approach, trained youth leaders facilitated moderated support groups for adolescents experiencing symptoms of anxiety and depression. The intervention sought to improve emotional well-being, reduce stigma, and promote help-seeking behavior among teens. Findings suggest that low-cost, digital peer-led support networks can offer scalable mental health solutions in underserved communities. This project presents critical insights for implementing localized, culturally relevant mental health programs aligned with global funding priorities.
